Keep Meriden Tidy

The Keep Meriden Tidy weekend, on Saturday the 3rd and Sunday the 4th of July 2021, is all about taking pride in our community. We'll be getting together all across the Meriden constituency to clean up!

With litter picks planned in Knowle, Dorridge, Balsall Common, Hampton in Arden, Chelmsley Wood and Kingshurst, there is an opportunity for residents in all parts of the Meriden constituency to get involved.

Simply sign up below expressing your interest and you will receive further details on the litter pick closest to you.

As your local Member of Parliament, I want to make sure the Meriden constituency is a cleaner and more environmentally friendly place to live in. We all take immense pride in our community and that is why we must do our bit to protect the environment and keep it tidy.

This will be an excellent opportunity to get together with your local community for a good cause.

We have a number of litter picks ongoing through the weekend, so please sign up to stay updated and together, let us Keep Meriden Tidy!

NB: All litter picks will be carried out in a Covid secure manner. In line with government guidelines, we will limit each litter pick to a maximum of 30 people. For more details on provisions, please see below:

  • Only litter pick if this is something that you are comfortable doing

  • Please stay at home and self-isolate if you are displaying COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive. If you have symptoms of COVID-19, arrange to have a PCR test (if you have not already had one) via the NHS website

  • Anyone can now take a Lateral Flow Test at home if you are asymptomatic for a rapid result (available to order via the NHS website or collect a kit from your local pharmacy)

  • Government guidance remains cautious and recommends continuing to stay 2 metres apart from anyone not in your household or support bubble where possible, or 1 metre with extra precautions in place (such as wearing face coverings) if you cannot stay 2 metres apart

  • Use personal litter picking equipment wherever possible to avoid potential transmission - do not share your equipment with others without quarantining and sanitisation

  • Wear thick gloves for the duration of the litter picking activity, including when setting up and fastening bags

  • Consider taking hand sanitiser on your litter pick and wash your hands thoroughly before and after each litter pick with hand wash and/or sanitiser
