Saqib was pleased to host, in his role as the Shadow Minister of State for Culture, Media and Sport, some leaders of the UK tourism and hospitality industry in Parliament for a roundtable on Martyn’s Law.
Martyn’s Law or the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill, is a Bill currently going through the House of Commons. The Bill is designed to enhance safety measures at public sports, hospitality and leisure venues across the county.
The Bill is named in honour of Martyn Hett, who tragically lost his life alongside 21 others in the horrific 2017 Manchester Arena Attack.
It is incredibly important that we protect those who choose to spend an evening out at a hospitality venue, but especially younger members of society, who were specifically targeted during this heinous attack.
As the Opposition, we have a responsibility to engage with industry leaders to ensure that we can effectively challenge the Government and pass better, more effective, and comprehensive laws.
So long as Saqib is your Member of Parliament, he will continue to challenge the Government to ensure the laws being considered by Parliament are as robust and effective as they can be and will improve the lives of British people.
