Saqib Bhatti, Member of Parliament for Meriden, has praised the incredible generosity of Knowle-based employment law firm, Schofield & Associates for donating old and unused laptops and computers to schools in the local area to support with remote learning needs through the course of the lockdown.
Commenting on the selfless work of many local groups and companies, including Schofield & Associates, Saqib said:
“Through the course of this pandemic, we have seen some incredible acts of kindness and generosity and with the reopening of schools on the horizon, planned for 8th March, I want to thank Schofield & Associates for doing their bit in supporting children and parents through this challenging time.
“Remote learning has been difficult, and I have raised the need to ensure children have access to IT support and resources through these challenging times directly with the Prime Minister.
“It is great to see that businesses in our constituency have not only raised awareness of the issue but have gone the extra mile in supporting local families.”
Upon receiving a letter of thanks from her Member of Parliament, Principal Solicitor and school governor Eileen Schofield said:
“I am aware of the pressures on schools which have been exacerbated by the COVID -19 pandemic. As children have been expected to home study it became clear very quickly that there were insufficient devices for children to be able to adequately pursue their studies.
“Schofield & Associates had retained a number of unused computers which have been made available to schools, a call to action was raised to businesses in their networks to ask that they consider donating unused devices and we have had a fantastic response”
