Saqib Bhatti, MP for Meriden, is supporting plans for the creation of an Investment Zone at the Arden Cross site, near the NEC.
On Friday, the Chancellor announced that the government would be creating Investment Zones in 38 different areas in England. Areas hosting Investment Zones will benefit from a local growth settlement in the next spending review period and businesses will be granted tax benefits.
Arden Cross, located in the Meriden Constituency, has been identified as a potential location for an Investment Zone.
Commenting on the creation of Investment Zones:
“I am delighted that the Arden Cross site has been identified as a possible location for an Investment Zone.
“This site has so much potential already as the HS2 interchange will also be located here, linking the airport, Birmingham International Station, Jaguar Land Rover, the business park and the NEC, which did a fantastic job of hosting many Commonwealth Games events this summer. A well-placed investment zone with key transport links will be a game changer and drive economic growth.
“My constituents deserve to have access to more jobs, more investment and more growth. I will continue to advocate for an investment zone to be located at Arden Cross to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, along with the Chancellor and the Prime Minister.
