Saqib Bhatti, Member of Parliament for Meriden, has been awarded his MBE from His Royal Highness, Prince Charles at an investiture ceremony in Windsor Castle.
Saqib received his MBE in December 2019 for services to diversity and inclusion in the business community, whilst he was President of the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce.
During his time at the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, and previously as President of the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce, Saqib oversaw the launch of Greater Birmingham Growth Hubs and the implementation of the diversity and leadership pledge. In charge of business support, he also oversaw the largest number of start-ups outside of London since 2014 – with 13,165 start-ups in 2017 and 18,590 in 2018.
Commenting on the event, Saqib said:
“It was a great honour to be awarded an MBE from HRH Prince Charles.
“A lot has changed since December 2019 when I first received news of my MBE and I am so grateful for my wonderful friends and family for their constant support.
“I was awarded the MBE for my work in my business career, and although I have now entered the world of politics as the Member of Parliament for Meriden, the work of helping people has not stopped.
