Saqib Bhatti, Member of Parliament for Meriden has celebrated the findings of a new report from the Department for International Trade which shows the Meriden constituency at 45.6% has the second highest percentage of trade related jobs in the United Kingdom.[1]
With 39,905 employees in export intensive sectors, the Meriden constituency scores very highly in supporting jobs related to international trade.[2] This includes globally recognised companies such as Gymshark, the NEC and Jaguar Land Rover.
Following the news, Saqib’s Business Forum is working with the Department for International Trade (DIT) as part of the Parliamentary Export Programme, to help local businesses access the support they need to boost their exporting potential.
Commenting on the latest figures, Saqib Bhatti said:
“This is excellent news for all of us within the Meriden constituency. The exports and trade sector supports thousands of jobs, businesses and livelihoods in our community, and it comes as no surprise to me as many businesses large and small, from the automotive sector to chocolatiers, speak to me about exporting to different markets across the world.
“That is why I am delighted to be hosting the Parliamentary Export Programme as part of my Business Forum for businesses in my constituency on 9th April at 08:30am. The programme will give you access to information, advice and finance to sell internationally.
“The events I am organising are free and all businesses need to do is register using the link below. Experts and experienced exporters will be online to provide free advice including on government supported working capital and the practicalities of post-Brexit trade."
