Saqib held his second Pensioners Fair at the Onward Club in Chelmsley Wood on Friday, 22nd November. This event followed Saqib’s first Pensioners Fair, which took place in Knowle earlier this year. The Fair brought together different organisations offering specific services to the pensioner community who were on hand to provide information and answer attendees’ questions, with the proceeds going to Age UK Solihull.
The Fair aimed to highlight all the different opportunities for the elderly community by convening stakeholders in one convenient location. The exhibitors were all available to chat with attendees and to hand out information about how they could get involved. Saqib wanted to make sure that the elderly community across the Solihull borough not only had access to the information from the exhibitors but that they had the chance to speak to someone in person. The event was attended by a range of organisations, including Age UK Solihull, Unique Senior Care, Right at Home Solihull, Citizens Advice, Bluebird Care Solihull, Alzheimer’s Society and many more exhibitors who generously gave their time to support the Pensioners Fair.
Commenting on the event, Saqib said:
“Following my first Pensioners Fair in Knowle, I was delighted to bring this event to Chelmsley Wood. Supporting our pensioner community is more important than ever and I am thrilled to have highlighted all of the wonderful local support available.”
“Thank you to all of our exhibitors and sponsors for providing information and speaking to all of our attendees. I am so glad everyone enjoyed the event, and I am very much looking forward to the next one.”
Rebecca Jacob, Fundraising Manager for Age UK Solihull said:
“We were delighted to attend Saqib Bhatti's second Pensioner's Fair, and honoured to be nominated to receive the proceeds from the event. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to spread the word about the support we can offer older Solihull residents, alongside many other vital community organisations. Over £1,000 has been raised for Age UK Solihull from the fair, which means so much to us as a local charity and will help us to provide advice, support and companionship to older people in Solihull when they need us most. Thank you to all involved in the event."
