Saqib completed a sponsored charity skydive in aid of the Lily Mae Foundation on 3rd August. On the day he and several other fundraisers jumped from 13,000 feet at the Hinton Skydiving centre to raise money for the foundation. This marks the second time that Saqib has skydived for charity, the first being in 2019 to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
The Lily Mae Foundation is a local charity providing a network to bereaved parents following the loss of a baby, support and training for healthcare professionals, and further research into what can be done to prevent baby loss. Last year the foundation celebrated its 10th anniversary, having offered support to over 1,000 parents.
Saqib has supported the Lily Mae Foundation for many years and was passionate about raising as much money as possible to support their wonderful work. Through his fundraising, Saqib exceeded his target and raised over £3500 for the foundation.
Commenting on the event, Saqib said:
“Thank you so much to everyone that donated to my campaign for the Lily Mae Foundation. Your support allowed me to exceed my fundraising target and will help the foundation with all the amazing work they do.”
“Improving awareness of baby loss and making sure that bereaved parents receive the support they need is so important. I have had the pleasure of witnessing the remarkable work carried out by the team at the Lily Mae foundation and it is a privilege to offer them my support.”
Commenting, Ryan Jackson, Founder and Managing Director of the Lily Mae Foundation said:
“We would like to say a huge thank you to Saqib for skydiving and raising money to support parents and families, who suffer the devastating loss of a baby to stillbirth, neonatal, death, miscarriage, or medical termination. Saqib showed a great determination to raise as much money and awareness of the impact of baby loss for bereaved parents!”
“We really value Saqib’s support, helping us to continue to provide much-needed support programmes to those parents and families when suffering the devastating loss of their baby.”
