Saqib has welcomed Saudi Airlines, who have landed at Birmingham Airport for the first time. Saudi Airlines will be flying three times a week to the vibrant city of Jeddah. The flights will be departing from BHX on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and are currently priced at £372 one way. The inaugural flight was launched on July 2nd, leaving for Jeddah at 2:30 pm.
This is the first time that Saudi Arabia's national airline has operated from Birmingham Airport, the aim of which is to improve connectivity between the Midlands and the Middle East. The increase in flights to Jeddah will also make the journey for pilgrims from the midlands much more convenient.
The introduction of Saudi Airlines to Birmingham Airport comes among increased activity from a number of Middle Eastern airlines in the region. Both Emirates and Qatar Airways have resumed their services from BHX this month.
Commenting on the news Saqib said,
“I know for many, the journey to Saudi Arabia is a particularly special and meaningful one. So it is great to see the launch of the new Jeddah service from Birmingham Airport that will serve my constituents, the West Midlands, and the wider region."
"With greater international routes, Birmingham Airport is cementing itself as a global travel hub, continuing to boost the local economy and increasing the West Midlands’ global reach and connectivity."
