On Friday, Saqib was at Warwick University to open the new Fintech Innovation Lab at the Gillmore Centre for Financial Technology and to speak with academic staff, employers from within the Financial Tech industry and students.
Having previously served as the Minister responsible for technology under the previous Government, it is always a thrill for Saqib to be able to attend an event not only celebrating the amazing developments taking place in British Tech, but also to see it growing further.
The United Kingdom is a global power in the technology sector, with the fintech industry being the largest in Europe and the second largest globally, behind the United States.
It was also fantastic to be able to try on the VR headset on display, it was a great way to see how tech is changing the way our institutions teach and advance research.
As a Member of Parliament, Saqib has been proud to support the growth of the technology industry in the United Kingdom and it is a pleasure to see a local University be at the cutting edge of this vital sector.
