Saqib has teamed up with Solihull Roundtable and the Colebridge Trust to collect warm clothes for children experiencing hardship this winter. Saqib is calling on local residents to help with the clothes collection by donating children’s winter clothing, specifically, hats, gloves, scarves, socks and thick tights (preferably black, grey or red). Donations can be dropped off at the Evergreen Family Hub, 42 Kingshurst Way, Kingshurst, B37 7DX, between 9am - 3pm or at Junction, 100 Chapelhouse Road, Fordbridge, B37 5HA between 9am - 4pm. Donations can be made up to March 2024.
Having visited the Colebridge Trust at Evergreen Family Hub to bring donations, Saqib had the opportunity to talk to the charity about the focus of this year’s collection. Through their work in the community, the Colebridge Trust noted that lots of children did not have the right clothes to stay warm and wanted to focus on alleviating this issue. Solihull Roundtable, a local charity, made an incredibly significant contribution to the clothes collection by donating boxes of children’s winter clothes to the Colebridge Trust to support the local community.
Saqib was particularly pleased to be able to visit the Colebridge Trust at the Evergeen Family Hub, which has been opened due to a lobbying campaign by Saqib and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC), resulting in the Department of Education allocating £1 million for the opening of four family hubs across the Solihull borough. The Evergeen Family Hub, located in Kingshurst, offers a comprehensive list of services for local families, including maternity services, support for parents and social activities.
