Saqib hosted his first Pensioners Fair for the residents of the Solihull borough on 16th February at Knowle Village Hall. The event brought together several companies, charities and service providers offering specific initiatives for pensioners. The Fair was attended by over 100 residents from across the Solihull borough, who enjoyed tea and coffee whilst speaking to the different exhibitors.
The Fair aimed to provide information about all of the different opportunities for the elderly community by convening stakeholders in one convenient location. The exhibitors were all available to chat with attendees and to hand out information about how they could get involved. Saqib wanted to make sure that the elderly community across the Solihull borough not only had access to the information from the exhibitors but that they had the chance to speak to someone in person. The event was attended by Age UK Solihull, Probate Solicitors Limited, Eastcote Park Care Home, Avery Healthcare, Macc Care and several exhibitors who all generously gave their time to support the Fair.
Commenting on the event, Saqib said:
“I am so pleased to have hosted my first Pensioners Fair for the Meriden constituency. It is so important to support our elderly community by making sure they have access to all of the wonderful local services available.”
“Thank you to all of our exhibitors and sponsors for providing information and speaking to all of our attendees. I am so glad everyone enjoyed the event, and I am very much looking forward to the next one.”
Bernice Jones, from Age UK Solihull, said:
“We are thrilled to be a part of Saqib Bhatti's Pensioner's Fair, showcasing the support that is available locally to Pensioners, both provided by Age UK Solihull and other organisations across the Borough. We will have Advisors available on the day to provide information about everything from how to keep warm this winter, social clubs and groups, through to benefits available and later life planning. We are grateful that any profits from the fair will be donated to Age UK Solihull to help us to continue to provide vital advice, companionship and practical support to around 10,000 Solihull residents every year. Thank you to Mr Bhatti and everyone else involved in putting on this event.”
