Saqib joined Bonanza Creative at Meriden CE Primary School for a carbon monoxide awareness session to educate the children on the dangers of carbon monoxide. Saqib also spoke to year 5 about his role as the MP for Meriden, explaining how he became an MP and offering them an insight into his work in parliament. The students then had the opportunity to ask Saqib questions about his job and tell him what matters most to them.
The carbon monoxide awareness campaign, carried out by Bonanza Creative, offered the children an interactive educational session in which they collaborated with each other to learn about staying safe from carbon monoxide. The sessions are funded by Cadent Gas and are free for schools across the country in an effort to make sure that homes and people stay safe from the effects of carbon monoxide.
Commenting on the event, Saqib said:
“It was a pleasure to visit Meriden Primary and to speak to the year 5 students about my work as their MP. Everyone asked great questions and I am so pleased to see young people within our community taking an interest in our political process.”
"Thank you to Bonanza Creative for inviting me to join in their carbon monoxide awareness session. I greatly enjoyed seeing the students learn in an interactive and creative way, and it was clear that they were enthusiastic about getting involved.”
“It is so important that everyone is educated on the dangers of carbon monoxide and how to keep themselves and their homes safe and I encourage everyone to research carbon monoxide safety.”
Emmi Isham, Founder of Bonanza Creative, commented on the session:
“We had a great day at Meriden School, creatively educating the KS1 and KS2 children about CO, what it is, where it comes from and how to stay safe. We look forward to bringing these fantastic, fully funded school sessions to other Primary schools across the region and wider country.”
