Saqib Bhatti, Member of Parliament for Meriden, co-hosted a digital inclusion workshop in conjunction with Lloyds Banking Group for the local community at the Three Trees Centre in Chelmsley Wood.
The workshop was delivered by We Are Digital, a Coventry-based social impact company focused on driving greater digital inclusion and providing access to digital and online services. The workshop began with an introduction to digital skills and provided information about staying safe online, with an overall focus on improving digital literacy within the Chelmsley Wood area.
Lloyds Banking Group, as a part of its drive for digital inclusion, gifted tablets to attendees with a lack of access to the online world.
Commenting on the event Saqib said:
“Workshops like this are so important in improving access to the online world. Now, more than ever, it is essential that people not only have access to digital platforms but that they have the required knowledge to do so in a safe and secure manner.
“Cyber security is paramount, and I am passionate about making sure that all my constituents, regardless of age, receive the support they need to navigate digital platforms safely.
"Thank you to Lloyds Banking Group for sponsoring this event and to We Are Digital for sharing their expertise with the attendees. Lloyds digital workshops are a great example of a business being a force for good by working to support communities and it is wonderful that such a successful event could be held in Chelmsley Wood.”
