Saqib visited the Greenwood pub in Chelmsley Wood on Friday 12th April to congratulate the managers and staff on winning his Best Pub in Meriden competition. The competition ran from 8th February to 8th March, with participants able to nominate and vote for any pub within the Meriden constituency. Those who voted could also comment on why their chosen pub was their favourite with answers ranging from the community feeling of the pubs to the wonderful service seen in establishments across the constituency. Saqib was incredibly pleased to see so many constituents participate in the competition and show their support for their local pubs.
The Greenwood received over 100 votes in the competition with a great number of very positive comments from patrons. The comments spoke of the exceptional hospitality they experienced, the wonderful service provided by staff, and the great community hub the Greenwood represents within Chelmsley Wood. During his visit to the pub, Saqib got to experience the hospitality and service the Greenwood offers himself and had the chance to speak to one of the managers, Dayle Geurin about the role they play as a community hub.
Commenting on the competition, Saqib said:
“I was so pleased that my competition was able to highlight the amazing pubs in the Meriden constituency, the Greenwood were a worthy winner and received a great amount of community support. It was a pleasure to visit the Greenwood to meet their hardworking staff and loyal patrons. Supporting businesses within my constituency remains one of my priorities and I will continue to do all I can to help them thrive.”
Managers at the Greenwood, Dayle Geurin and Casey Dixon said:
