Saqib visited Tallinn, the capital city of Estonia to mark the first anniversary of the UK-Estonia Tech Partnership. This partnership allows the UK and Estonia, as like-minded, technologically advanced countries, to strengthen their cooperation in technology fields. The goal of this agreement is to create an innovation dialogue for the development of technology-related cooperation forms. This collaboration can help both nations in several key areas, such as healthcare, education, and data innovation. It also allows the nations to monitor inter-state issues more effectively, such as online threats.
As Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Tech and the Digital Economy, Saqib voiced the UK’s support for this partnership and gained insight into the tech developments happening in Estonia. Whilst in Tallinn, Saqib attended a briefing by the e-Estonia briefing centre, which specialises in digitalisation initiatives and boosting innovation and internal cooperation. He also sat down with the Estonian minister for economy and information technology to discuss the success of the partnership and how it will proceed in future.
Commenting on the visit, Saqib said:
“It was great to be in Tallinn celebrating the first anniversary of the UK-Estonia Tech Partnership. This partnership stands as a testament to our country’s shared vision of leveraging technology to transform our societies.”
"Over the last year, the partnership has been incredibly successful, and I am looking forward to all the new opportunities it will yield as it turns challenges into successes and guides us to a brighter future.”
