This morning, alongside his colleagues in the Shadow Ministerial team for Culture, Media and Sport, Saqib held a roundtable discussion on protecting our valuable national heritage. Welcoming to Parliament some of the owners of the UK’s most iconic historic homes.
Saqib commented "In United Kingdom, we pride ourselves on our heritage, it is part of our national identity, from TV shows such as Downton Abbey to the home of democracy in the Palace of Westminster, historic houses are engrained into our culture, and it is vital that we must protect them.
But historic houses are pivotal to local economies, especially in rural areas. Labour’s Budget is crippling their business-models, and might lead to redundancies, reduced opportunities for young people and the closure of some of our beloved homes.
I am proud to serve as the Shadow Minister of State for Culture, Media and Sport, and I will continue to fight back against the Government’s attack on our cultural heritage."
