Young people are our future and as a strong advocate for their potential, I firmly believe in investing in the development and empowerment of our youth. They possess the creativity, innovation and fresh perspectives that will shape our communities for years to come.
I am fully committed to continuing to fight for fair and adequate funding for our schools. I was thrilled that following my lobbying of the Department for Education, Arden Academy and St Patricks Church of England Primary Academy recently received a share of the £450 million Condition Improvement Fund. This was in addition to other funding awarded to us locally for schools at the start of 2023, through the School Rebuilding Programme. Our children deserve the best learning opportunities available and I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that every school in the Meriden constituency receives the support they deserve.
In addition to my commitment to securing better resources for our schools, I host my annual careers fair in north Solihull for jobseekers and young people in the Meriden constituency. This event serves as a platform for leading employers from the West Midlands and beyond to come together to offer employment, training, and education opportunities exclusively for our young people. By bringing these valuable opportunities directly to our community, we bridge the gap between our young talent and prospective employers, creating pathways to success. I was pleased to launch my own office Internship Programme which offers local students an opportunity to engage with politics and get a feel of life as an MP, both locally and in Westminster.
