Saqib received almost 300 entries for his annual Christmas card competition which was open to all primary schools in the Meriden constituency. The competition saw children from local schools drawing pictures that represented the Christmas season, Saqib was “amazed by the creativity on display” and “so proud of all the designs submitted”.
The winning design came from Joseph from Knowle C.E Primary Academy with a brilliant painting of Santa Claus flying through the night sky over the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Saqib took the winning design to the Prime Minister who was very impressed by Joseph’s artistic ability and sent his congratulations on his successful entry.
Every entrant to the competition will receive a letter from Saqib thanking them for entering and wishing them and their families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Commenting on the Christmas card competition, Saqib said:
“Thank you to all of the children from across the Meriden constituency who entered my Christmas card competition and all the schools who facilitated them taking part. This competition is one of the highlights of my year as I get to witness the amazing talent in our local community.”
“My wife and I were blown away by all the wonderful entries and picking a winner and runners-up was so very difficult.”
“I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”
